Personal Training: 6th training attendance weekend

By slhaf | January 20, 2010

My latest attendance weekend was a fairly tough experience, with two nutrition exams, both practical and theoretical lessons on how to help clients come back from injury, and much time spent playing catch up from the weekend I’d missed last month.

A few minutes into Saturday morning’s first lesson, I considered giving up and walking out again – especially when I heard we had a big exam next month covering everything we’d learnt so far on the course. I was worried I might have too big a gap in my knowledge and not enough time to fill it! But when I got chatting to fellow classmates in a break, I found that everyone else was feeling the pressure too.

I guess the simple fact is becoming a personal trainer is meant to be challenging because you have to be able to help all different types of people who are paying for your expertise. If it were that easy to pick up, everyone would be doing it! The good news is I passed my two nutrition exams with flying colours. The bad news is I’ve got lots of course work to do over the next two months before the whole course ends. I feel alright about it though. The end of the tunnel is in sight and I can’t wait to get out there and start teaching!
