‘Exuberant Animal’ seminar comes to London

By slhaf | June 10, 2009

Wildfitness is excited to be hosting the first ever ‘Exuberant Animal’ seminar in the UK, led by its founder, the American movement guru Frank Forencich. The seminar will be held for 2 days, 29th-30th August 2009, in London’s Regent’s Park.

Forencich is one of the leading experts in the growing field of evolutionary fitness and his books have been a major influence on the philosophy of Wildfitness and its fitness holiday programme. The seminar is a fantastic opportunity for forward-thinking fitness and movement professionals to get an insight into the new trend in fitness towards ‘natural movement’ and to gain inspiration from one of the key voices and proponents of this culture shift.

The innovative two-day seminar will offer a powerful new perspective on human performance, health and physical happiness. It will include presentations on the modern human predicament, human evolution and the history of play, as well as practical sessions covering functional training principles, a selection of powerful games and partner-resistance training.

The seminar is ideal for all movement and body professionals from personal trainers, therapists, martial artists, dancers to physical educators, as well as non-professional fitness enthusiasts. Participants will learn a range of practical games and techniques that will be instantly useful in teaching as well as their own training, leaving them invigorated, liberated and with a new outlook on physical training.

“Frank, along with a handful of natural movement leaders, really gets what being human means – we were born to play, move with grace and to be engaged effortlessly with our physicality. His teaching makes sense on all levels: natural movement is the most upstream way to become injury free, fit and beautiful. Natural, evolutionary fitness is not peripheral or special interest, it is the tool that will change your client’s bodies and minds and inspire them. Frank is one of my gurus and I am extremely excited about bringing him to the UK. This really is a special opportunity to learn ancient wisdom for the modern times”, says Tara Wood, founder of Wildfitness.

Frank is the author of Exuberant Animal and Play as if Your Life Depends on It. He has over 25 years teaching experience in martial art, functional movement and health promotion. He holds black belt rankings in both karate and aikido and has consulted to major corporations, human resource groups and fitness professionals. He has travelled to Africa on several occasions to study native cultures and human origins.
