UK places still available for the 2009 New York Marathon
By slhaf | May 27, 2009
The New York City Marathon is taking place on November 1st and is perfect for runners who want the challenge but didn’t make it to the ballot for the 2010 London Marathon – or for those who just don’t want to wait a whole year! Although the international lottery has already passed, UK runners can still run as part of a charity. For more information about this year’s official charities click here.
Beginers can use the “How to Get Started” program and for runners with varying degrees of fitness there are specific schedules to help you train. Many of the charities have a team/coach/training component as well, such as the New York Road Runners Foundation Team for Kids (TFK). UK runners can join the TFK online community, and access their training workouts, talk to other participants and receive support virtually as well as building a sense of camaraderie with other participants.
The New York City Marathon is one of the world’s great road races, drawing nearly 105,000 applicants all hoping to cross the finish line in Central Park in record time. For more information, visit www.ingnycmarathon.org.
